With many polls, the way a user votes may indicate useful information about the user. In order to capture this information, and give you tools to execute your corporate data strategy, we've introduced the ability to add custom tags to poll options. Now, when you add a tag to a side, and a user votes for that side, we'll add that tag to the user's profile. As users accumulate tags, and perhaps multiple instances of the same tag, you'll be able to infer certain information or attributes about that user.
Before you start adding tags to polls, a good first step is to consult or create your overall corporate data strategy. What information would you like to collect and learn about your users? Are there any gaps in your user data that a poll might help to fill? Once you have a goal in mind, create your poll and add tags to each side using the tag icon located to the right of the side.
Once you've added tags to your polls and have started collecting poll responses, you're now ready to segment your audience using Segments.
